Rosalie Wright

I’m Rosalie, a Research Assistant in the Seascape Ecology Lab and graduate in Biological Sciences from Oxford.

I’m working on technological advances and citizen science opportunities in seascape conservation and multi-habitat restoration. I’m particularly interested in applied marine conservation and science communication for impactful research.

My undergraduate dissertation was with Nekton Mission documenting unstudied mesophotic coral communities to guide MPA designation in the Comoros. I completed a further research project on the sustainable development of small-scale fisheries and management in Palau, in collaboration with Stanford’s Center for Ocean Solutions. My marine fieldwork experience includes nudibranch SCUBA surveys, coral reef monitoring and benthic community ecology studies, and co-leading a research expedition to a remote jungled plateau in Sarawak, Borneo, where I spent a month hammocking in the rainforest (with plenty of leeches for company).

I am a graduate representative for the British Ecological Society Conservation SIG and previously worked for the UN Global Compact Network UK, where I was based in the Climate Action & Global Goals teams to support private sector engagement with Sustainable Development Goals.

In my spare time I run the British Ecological Society Conservation Careers Stories podcast, and I love diving, climbing, team sports and any form of outdoors activity!
